Turning Every Event into a Journey of Its Own

In 2024, more than 350 guests travelled to Phu Quoc for the wedding of an Indian billionaire couple. For the organisers, the brief went far beyond finding a beautiful venue. It called for an elaborate sequence of ceremonies, rich in cultural identity and memorable enough to impress hundreds of distinguished international guests.

The same Kiss of the Sea venue can transform from a seaside setting for an Indian billionaire wedding into a recognition stage for a global corporation.

Southern Phu Quoc provided the answer. The plaza at An Thoi cable car station became a magnificent wedding procession route, while the waterfront Kiss of the Sea stage was reimagined with fresh flowers, lighting and traditional Indian motifs. Against an expansive backdrop of sea and sky, the ceremony became an evocative spectacle, designed around the couple and their guests.

Also in 2024, Coca-Cola chose Phu Quoc to bring together 500 guests for its Asia–South Pacific regional year-end gathering. After several days of meetings, relaxation and team bonding, the company selected Kiss of the Sea for the programme’s culminating recognition gala. Its over-water stage, multimedia technology and fireworks took the occasion beyond the familiar ballroom format, prompting a brand representative to describe it as one of Vietnam’s most impressive outdoor stages.

The same Kiss of the Sea venue can host a seaside Indian wedding and then become the setting for a global corporation’s recognition gala. This versatility shows that the value of MICE infrastructure lies as much in its ability to tell each event’s individual story as in its scale.

In 2026, Phu Quoc continued to welcome events with highly specialised requirements. The Vietnam International Flute Festival (VIFF 2026) brought together more than 40 artists from 12 countries and territories at Sun Tropical Ballroom, demonstrating the destination’s ability to host classical music events and international artistic exchange.

Meanwhile, Klook’s Kreatorverse Summit 2026 brought 150 international content creators and influencers to Sun Signature Gallery. For this audience, a fully equipped conference venue was only the starting point. The gallery’s expressive architecture, together with the scenery, landmarks and everyday energy of Sunset Town, turned southern Phu Quoc into a source of creative inspiration. The gathering’s reach extended beyond the discussion sessions through the photographs, videos and stories shared by the participants themselves.

From an Established Events Offering to Infrastructure for APEC 2027

Behind these events is an established network of meeting venues, accommodation and entertainment in southern Phu Quoc. A single programme can begin with a conference at Sun Signature Gallery or Sun Tropical Ballroom, continue with team-building activities on Hon Thom, and conclude with a seaside dinner, performances and fireworks.

Sun Signature Gallery can accommodate conferences of around 1,000 delegates, cocktail receptions for 800 guests or seated gala dinners for 600. Kiss of the Sea expands the possibilities of a conventional event venue, with seating for approximately 5,000, an over-water stage, multimedia technology and fireworks. Sun Bavaria GastroPub, meanwhile, offers a dinner-show experience in which dining, networking, live performances and fireworks come together as one occasion. The closing dinner can therefore become the emotional high point of the journey, rather than simply a hospitality function.

The variety of guest rooms, suites and private villas allows organisers to accommodate different guest categories, budgets and security requirements while maintaining a cohesive programme.

This capacity is set to expand further in 2026–2027, when Phu Quoc is expected to add approximately 5,500 rooms. Hon Thom alone is set to gain nearly 2,000 rooms, helping the island evolve from a day-trip attraction into a resort and entertainment destination capable of welcoming conference and incentive groups for longer stays.

While the existing offering demonstrates Phu Quoc’s ability to host a wide range of international events, the projects being developed for APEC 2027 are opening a new chapter. Phu Quoc International Airport is being upgraded to substantially increase passenger capacity. Road infrastructure and a light rail line are also being developed to link the airport with the conference district, shorten transfers and improve the coordination of large delegations.

The APEC Convention and Exhibition Center and the APEC 2027 Multipurpose Theatre now under construction will add venues for high-level conferences, economic forums and other major events.

Once complete, the complex will serve APEC 2027 while creating long-term capacity for high-level conferences, economic forums, exhibitions and international performances.

These developments are taking shape as parts of a connected whole. The airport, transport network, convention centre, hotels, resorts and entertainment venues are being brought together to support the entire MICE journey, from arrival and accommodation to meetings, hospitality and destination experiences.

APEC 2027 thus represents an upgrade to Phu Quoc’s proven events capabilities. From international weddings and waterfront galas to the major venues now taking shape, the Pearl Island is bringing together two essential foundations for becoming a leading regional MICE destination: an integrated offering that delivers distinctive events today, and the infrastructure to welcome larger, more ambitious gatherings in the future.
