Legend has it that a long time ago, there was a fisherman and a fairy who fell deeply in love. However, because of the laws of heaven, they could not live together, so they transformed into a pair of male and female birds, clinging to each other day by day on the mountain. Over time, the birds turned to stone, forming the Hon Trong Mai of today, as a testament to eternal love.
Hon Trong Mai consists of three large stone slabs stacked on top of each other in a miraculous way. The large stone slab below is flat like a pedestal, and above are two smaller stone slabs: one with a pointed head resembling a rooster, the other smaller, resembling a hen. This natural arrangement creates the image of a pair of male and female birds clinging to each other, symbolizing enduring and loyal love.
The best time to visit Hon Trong Mai is at sunset, when the golden sunlight shines on the water, creating a romantic and poetic scene.
