Reaching the peak of art on the roof of Indochina

Taking place entirely outdoors, “Sacred Peak Journey” is a unique experimental art piece, staged specifically for the majestic terrain of Fansipan peak. Using the magnificent natural landscape as a stage, the show comprises three chapters, bringing together 26 artists and local artisans, performed at three iconic locations: from a village at an altitude of 1,500m, to the spiritual complex at 2,800m and culminating on the highest peak in Indochina at 3,143m.

Northwest Market - A vibrant picture of the highlands

Opening the artistic journey of “Sacred Peak Journey” is the vibrant picture of the “Northwest Market” in Ban May, at an altitude of 1,500m. The atmosphere comes alive with the melodious sounds of the Mong khen (mouth organ), the calls of vendors echoing through the mountains, blending with the colorful dances of the highland girls, transporting visitors into the lively rhythm, the joy and warmth of the mountainous region.

The market not only portrays the Sa Pa artisans authentically and vividly with their unique handicrafts, but also simulates the distinctive courtship customs of love markets, where encounters, poetic love stories originating from dance, khen music… continue through generations.

Folk music and love songs of the Mong and Dao people are carefully selected and refreshed with modern arrangements to suit the entertainment tastes of the general public. Each dance, movement, pattern, detail on the artists’ costumes, musical instruments, and tools appearing in the work are carefully researched and selected to ensure accuracy and respect for local culture, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere, imbued with the breath of the times while preserving the soul of the land.

Against this backdrop, the image of Giang Thanh Duc, a 16-year-old Hmong artisan from May Village, stands out as a poignant highlight. Amidst the lively music, Duc’s skillful, passionate, and enthusiastic khen (mouth organ) dance moved and delighted many viewers. Duc is not only a young artist but also a prime example of the scientific, systematic, and sustainable continuation and development of cultural heritage in the Northwest mountains.

The White Cloud Path – Sacred Primeval Forest

Leaving behind the festive atmosphere of the highland market, the artistic journey of the visitor progresses to a completely new space with a calm and serene mindset. “The White Cloud Path” – the second chapter of “Sacred Peak Chronicle”, takes place at Bich Van Thien Tu Temple, at an altitude of 2,800m, featuring a contemporary dance performance with the symbol of the serene lotus flower.

Without the clamor and excitement, “The White Cloud Path”, with the sounds of wind chimes and serene music, creates resonant vibrations from deep within the soul. The second chapter of the show is designed as a refined respite, where visitors can pause their ascent to the summit and listen to themselves.

Amidst the swirling mist of the sacred mountain peak, art is no longer merely for viewing but becomes a means of returning inward, encountering one’s primal self on the journey towards enlightenment.

Beloved Vietnam – A Dance of National Pride

The final chapter of the artistic journey unfolds atop Fansipan, at an altitude of over 3,143m.

To the tune of heroic music, under the red and gold star flag waving in the vast sky, the green bamboo dance combines with songs and singing, expressing passionate patriotism, echoing through the vast forest, making the audience choke with endless national pride.

Unlike the first two chapters, the ending has a modern style, fast-paced, dynamic, depicting the indomitable spirit, the aspiration to rise, and the strong self-esteem of the community of ethnic groups living in the border region.

An art space living in the middle of the forest

“Dinh Thieng Du Ky” is a journey through the scenery, culture, and spirit of the Northwest, taking visitors through every level of emotion, from bustling to quiet, from profound to heroic. There is no fixed stage, the entire Fansipan is transformed into a magnificent performance hall in nature. Each stone step, tree canopy, layer of mist, or sunlight through the clouds becomes a natural prop that helps tell the story of the Northwest, about Fansipan. The close interaction between artists and audiences through activities such as throwing pao, playing folk games, folk dancing… blurs the line between viewers and artists.

Although inspired by local cultural materials, the program is not without modern creativity. The mixing of traditional musical instruments with EDM, smoke and fire effects, lighting, and multi-layered stages create a captivating audio-visual experience that satisfies both culture lovers and young people who love new art.

A valuable plus point, the entire outdoor show has been integrated into the cable car ticket and the tourist area ticket. Visitors do not need to pay any extra fees to fully enjoy this approximately 35-minute art journey. This is how Sun World Fansipan Legend enhances the experience while ensuring wide and attractive access to all types of tourists.

Representative of the tourist area, Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, Deputy Director of Sun World Fansipan Legend, shared: “Dinh Thieng Du Ky will bring visitors a new and memorable experience on their journey to discover Fansipan this summer. With this show, we want visitors to Fansipan not only to admire the scenery and check-in, but to truly live in every moment of the Northwest, to understand and love this land more.”
