In the list of “25 places to visit in 2025”, CNA, a Singaporean news agency, named Phu Quoc at number 7. The island paradise is the only destination from Vietnam to make the list and one of the few from Asia, alongside Koh Samui (Thailand), Manila (Philippines), and Singapore. CNA called 2025 an ideal time to enjoy all journeys, cherish a slower pace of life, and promote sustainable tourism.
The list includes both new and familiar destinations with many new things to discover, such as Osaka (Japan), Cairo (Egypt), Greenland, Casablanca (Morocco)... To compile this list, CNA consulted experts, analyzed cultural and lifestyle trends, and updated information on flights, hotels, trains, and cruises at each destination.
The beauty of Bai Kem captivates all visitors
“With many small islands, a 150km coastline, and a large national park, Phu Quoc is a miniature image of a tropical gem,” CNA noted. Notably, tourists from Singapore can take a direct 2-hour flight to Phu Quoc on Scoot Airlines, which was launched in December 2024. Jo Hendry Prior, co-founder of Alchemist Travel – a travel company specializing in luxury travel experiences, said: “Phu Quoc has many accommodations, from budget-friendly to luxurious 5-star hotels on the beach, making it a great choice for a vacation outside of Singapore.”
In December 2024, the world’s leading travel magazine, Travel + Leisure, also pointed out that a 3-day vacation in Phu Quoc costs less than a 3-day weekend in Singapore or Koh Samui (Thailand), only 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of other famous destinations in the region. The reasonable cost is why Phu Quoc is becoming increasingly popular.
International tourists strolling at Bai Kem, Phu Quoc
Not only is Phu Quoc included in the list of the top 25 destinations in the world, but it also holds the 9th position in the top 10 most beautiful islands in Southeast Asia according to The Times (UK). The island paradise of Vietnam stands alongside famous tropical paradises in the region such as Koh Phra Thong of Thailand, Bali of Indonesia, Pulau Pangkor of Malaysia… “Nowhere in the world offers such a rich diversity of culture, cuisine, and stunning island scenery as Southeast Asia,” The Times noted.
The natural beauty of Phu Quoc is one of the top reasons why Phu Quoc captivates international tourists. Especially in the south of the island, visitors must visit Bai Kem and Bai Sao – one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, famous for its emerald green water, smooth white sand, and brilliant sunshine.
This place is also a “paradise” for international luxury hotel brands such as New World Phu Quoc, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay…. Among them, a leading British newspaper was captivated by the glamour of the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort - a “masterpiece by Kem beach” designed by world-renowned architect Bill Bensley, with an interesting theme of a fictional French university. The hotel’s highlight is a collection of 5,000 precious antiques meticulously sought by Bill Bensley from all over the world.
Sunset Town treats tourists to two fireworks displays every night from world-class shows
In addition to the wonderful natural experiences, Phu Quoc has recently attracted tourists with its unique entertainment activities. One of the most popular experiences is taking the world’s longest three-rope cable car to Hon Thom Island, admiring the magnificent seascape of Phu Quoc from above, becoming an “astronaut” to experience walking on the ocean floor at Hon Thom…
In particular, at Sunset Town, two world-class shows combined with the fireworks displays “Kiss of the Sea” and “Symphony of the Sea” offer unforgettable experiences for tourists after a long day exploring the pristine nature of Phu Quoc. Vietnam’s island paradise is also the only island in the world to present up to two artistic fireworks displays in one night. For tourists who love romance and uniqueness, watching the sunset at Cau Hon - the most unique “untouchable” bridge in the world, once praised by CNN - is an experience not to be missed.
Cau Hon - a tourism icon attracting visitors to Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc’s repeated appearance in the eyes of leading international media continues to mark a positive signal for the strong boom of the island’s tourism industry this year. During the recent Lunar New Year holiday alone, Phu Quoc welcomed up to 40 international flights per day, a three-fold increase compared to the same period last year. The number of international visitors to the island during this period reached nearly 75,000, up 44%. Therefore, Phu Quoc is one of the destinations that contributes to making Vietnam a leading destination for international tourists in 2025. In terms of the number of international visitors in 2024, Vietnam surpassed Singapore (16.5 million visitors), rising to third place in the ranking of countries with the most international visitors in Southeast Asia in 2024.
