According to the plan, An Giang province is assigned to implement 21 projects and infrastructure works to serve APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc, including 10 public investment projects and 11 projects under the PPP method. The projects range from transportation, seaports, aviation, water supply - drainage, waste treatment, urban embellishment, to convention centers and resettlement areas.
Among these important projects, a prominent work that must be mentioned is the Phu Quoc metro line. Approved by the local authorities, the project is invested by Sun Group der the BOT form, with a total investment of nearly 9,000 billion VND, of which state capital does not exceed 70%.
Phase 1 of the metro line is 18 km long, connecting Phu Quoc International Airport with APEC Convention Center , including elevated sections, at-grade sections, and underground sections through the center. The system of 6 stations along with 3-5 carriage trains, with a design speed of 70-100 km/h, will make travel on the island quick and convenient, while contributing to reducing congestion, traffic accidents, and emissions, promoting green and sustainable urban development. When the metro line becomes operational, exploring tourist attractions will become easier than ever, creating a seamless experience for both residents and tourists.

Besides the metro, the investment project to expand Phu Quoc International Airport is also being upgraded at "breakneck speed". The expansion project is invested by Sun Group, in cooperation with CPG Singapore and Artelia Airport (France), and is expected to complete many phases from 2026. Key components such as the VIP terminal, T2 terminal, and the second runway are being rapidly constructed to ensure timely completion to serve APEC 2027.
Upon operation, the airport will meet ICAO 4E standards, capable of receiving wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 747, Boeing 787, or Airbus A350, with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, 4.5 times the current capacity. Smart airport management systems, biometric technology, automated baggage handling, and other modern amenities will transform Phu Quoc into an international "gateway", elevating the status of the "Pearl Island" on the world map.
