The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), after many years of organization, has become a brand event of the Han River city, attracting the attention of millions of domestic and international tourists. DIFF 2025 and in the coming years are expected to become a playground for leading art events nationwide, not just fireworks shows.  

"Improving" the fireworks festival

At the press conference launching the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025 held on the morning of January 8, representatives of Sun Group and leaders of departments and branches of Da Nang city jointly proposed improvements to upgrade DIFF, turning this festival into a diverse art playground. Sun Group, the event organizer, shared that in DIFF 2025, fireworks will no longer be the only highlight, but will be combined with other art forms such as music, light, dance and fashion, creating a special and modern art space.

“The format of this year's DIFF art program will be particularly youthful, vibrant and more "on-trend"," affirmed a representative of Sun Group - the co-organizer of DIFF 2025. It is expected that each competition night of DIFF 2025 will be a vibrant live concert with the participation of famous domestic and international artists, combining fireworks, music and modern technology, bringing visitors unexpected experiences. The event space will also be invested in aesthetics, art and the application of digital transformation to optimize visitor experience. 

Accompanying this year's fireworks festival is the Sun Paradise Land (SPL) application - where visitors can personalize their Da Nang travel itinerary, buy fireworks tickets and entrance tickets to major entertainment centers, or even vote for the winning team each night to receive lucky gifts... Notably, AR technology (augmented reality) is integrated into the application for the first time, allowing visitors everywhere, whether in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City or Phu Quoc, to immerse themselves in the Da Nang fireworks sky with unique effects, creating strong spread.

It can be seen that DIFF 2025 promises many improvements compared to previous years, to further affirm the attractiveness and value of Da Nang's most characteristic event. Even, according to the organizers' reveal, famous music programs such as Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai, Anh trai say Hi… are expected to be brought to DIFF. If this becomes a reality, DIFF 2025 will truly be more than just fireworks shows, but also a "playground" for leading art events nationwide, and even internationally in the future.

Expectation of a fireworks ecosystem

The improvements and determination that Da Nang sets for DIFF cannot be easily realized when the city's infrastructure cannot meet the needs of large events, especially when DIFF is entering a new phase - "combining with giants". If the Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai or Anh trai say Hi music festival is performed in combination with DIFF, the number of spectators for one performance could reach 30,000 - 40,000 people, while the capacity of the DIFF 2025 stands is expected to be more than 10,000 seats.

That is why, in a press interview on January 8, Truong Thi Hong Hanh expressed hope for a fireworks ecosystem project for Da Nang. In it, DIFF needs a permanent grandstand, not only to meet the needs of the fireworks festival, but also to become infrastructure for large-scale music events that can take place throughout the year.

“The international fireworks complex project is one that the city is very interested in and is removing difficulties and obstacles to quickly implement. The Da Nang Department of Tourism also included a proposal with the city; this will be one of three breakthroughs to boost the tourism industry for 2025, in terms of tourism products, market promotion, flights, and service quality. In that, for new tourism products, the city will have solutions to accelerate the progress and soon start construction on this international fireworks complex project,” Hanh said.

Huynh Nam Thang, General Director of Sun Group in Central Vietnam – the organizer of DIFF 2025, also has high hopes: “If a high-quality infrastructure system is invested in, such as a large square or stage, a large-scale fireworks grandstand, then DIFF will certainly be raised to a new level, and at the same time contribute to making Da Nang a destination for festivals and events throughout the four seasons.” According to Thang, then the Han River city will not only be bustling with tourists during the fireworks season, but can also become a meeting point for large-scale entertainment events, shows, and international music festivals.

Many experts predict that DIFF 2025 will continue to set records for the number of visitors to the Han River city this summer, as 2025 also marks an important milestone – the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, predicts that international visitors will increase by about 20-25%, while domestic visitors will increase by around 10%.

“DIFF promises to continue to be a magnet, helping to rapidly increase the number of visitors both domestically and internationally,” Dung affirmed. It is believed that after the highly anticipated events planned for DIFF are officially announced, as well as the completion of the international fireworks complex project, the festival will continue to increase in popularity. DIFF will not simply be a fireworks festival, but in the future will be a venue for the most spectacular events.
