A Thrilling Script, Lavish Costumes, and Captivating Dance
“After Glow” is not merely a captivating show with mesmerizing dance, sound, and light; it also enthralls visitors with its thrilling and dramatic script. Inspired by the image of Queen Marie Antoinette, one of the most powerful and extravagant figures of the French royal family, and the magical, romantic beauty of Ba Na at night, the show tells the story of a queen living in luxury, passion, and courtly intrigues.
In “Afterglow”, the “Royal Jester Lovelark”—the show’s central character—serves as the connecting thread throughout the performance.
The meticulously crafted script guides the audience from the radiant Sun Kingdom, inspired by the magnificent Palace of Versailles, to explore the enchanting hidden corners as night falls. In “Afterglow”, the “Royal Jester Lovelark”—the show’s central character—serves as the connecting thread throughout the performance. The appearance of the Black Queen, a powerful and elegant figure, along with her graceful dances and powerful swordsmanship, unveils a world both captivating and mysterious. Notably, the confrontation between the Black Queen and the Red Queen—the embodiment of instinct, rebellion, and the yearning for freedom—creates a psychologically charged universe, captivating the audience.
A thrilling script and captivating dance are the highlights that make the show so appealing.
An indispensable element contributing to the visual spectacle of “After Glow” is the incredibly lavish and meticulously designed costumes for the characters. Drawing inspiration from Queen Marie Antoinette, the costumes are designed in the Rococo style (aristocratic fashion), with variations in the Boudoir style (wearing sensual costumes), fitting the show’s theme and setting.
Furthermore, with the skillful direction of director-choreographer Duc Viet and the talented performances of the multinational and multi-gender cast, the show delivers dance performances that are not only sexy and captivating but also emotionally rich, directly connecting with the audience through every rhythm and movement.
The First Time Bringing the Carabet Art Form to Da Nang
“After Glow” belongs to the Cabaret genre - a type of performing art originating from France in the late 19th century, initially performed in small cafes and tea rooms in Paris. Unlike mainstream theaters, Cabaret embodies freedom, rebellion, and experimentation, where artists can blend music, dance, theater, and fashion in a close, interactive space with the audience.
In Vietnam, this type of performance is still very new. Bringing the Cabaret show to Ba Na Hills with famous transgender beauty queens from Thailand, a cast of Drag queens (performing artists - usually male - with a feminine style of dress), and a renowned director is a bold step that breathes exciting new life into the nightlife entertainment industry in Da Nang.
Right from its debut, the After Glow show has attracted the special attention of a large number of tourists to Ba Na
With “After Glow”, cabaret art is placed in a contemporary space but retains its original spirit: a borderless stage – where secrets, desires, and beauty are suppressed along with the emotions of the viewer, waiting to be released and explode; a multi-sensory experience – where light, music, dance, and fashion create an unlimited symphony of passion; and an invitation into the world of the self, where each person confronts the deep secrets of themselves.
“The script, choreography, and acting of the artists are all very impressive, hot, captivating, and yet extremely delicate and profound. I didn’t think Vietnam had shows like this,” shared Phillip Le, a Vietnamese-American tourist.
International tourists are excited and enthusiastic when watching the show
Talented, multinational cast of artists
One of the reasons that “After Glow” is so special is the participation of a multinational and multi-gender cast of artists. The show brings together 15 talented international artists from different countries with skillful performance techniques, notably including several transgender Miss Thailand contestants and an international cast of drag queens.
Behind the success of “After Glow” is choreographer Duc Viet, also known as “Black Duck”. He is the creator of the unique and captivating dance performances in the hit TV show “Anh trai say Hi”, the MV “Bac Bling” by singer Hoa Minzy, and most recently, the program “Em xinh say Hi”. With “After Glow”, Duc Viet has brought a breath of fresh air to entertainment: more captivating, modern, and free-spirited than ever before.
“After Glow” takes place every night from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM (except Wednesdays) at Beer Plaza. From the restaurant’s 360-degree stage, visitors will experience a very different Ba Na, magical and free-spirited. This is not just a simple art performance but also an ideal meeting place for visitors to enjoy fine dining, craft beer, and top-notch art. The “After Glow” show will add an exciting and interesting element to visitors’ exploration of Da Nang at night.
