Global travel platform Skyscanner has released its Travel Trends 2027 report, ranking Phu Quoc tenth among trending destinations for Indian travellers. The island recorded a 133% increase in flight searches, joining destinations such as Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Okinawa in Japan, Tirana in Albania and Pokhara in Nepal.
The list is based on growth in flight searches between 1 January and 17 June 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, alongside criteria assessing destinations’ suitability for leisure travel. In addition to search data, the report draws on a OnePoll survey of 2,000 people in India, conducted in July 2026, to identify shifts in travel preferences.
According to the survey, 58% of respondents plan to travel abroad more in 2027. Meanwhile, 67% said they had changed, or considered changing, their destination when an alternative offered better value. The findings suggest that the appetite for exploration remains strong, while travellers are paying closer attention to how they spend their budgets and the experiences their trips deliver.
Skyscanner also highlights Phu Quoc as part of a growing interest in holidays that allow travellers to step away from digital devices, unwind and reconnect with nature. Alongside Pokhara and Agatti in India, the island is among the destinations the platform recommends for those seeking a slower pace and a relaxing escape.
Its inclusion in the latest report provides further evidence of Indian travellers’ interest in Phu Quoc. In an article published in April 2026, Outlook Traveller cited Agoda data released in October 2025 showing that the island had entered the top 10 most searched honeymoon destinations among Indian travellers for the first time, ranking sixth with search growth of nearly 700%.
According to Outlook Traveller, Phu Quoc’s appeal lies in its convenient access, competitive prices and diverse holiday experiences. The magazine highlights beachfront resorts, villas with private pools and the opportunity to enjoy premium services at more accessible prices than in destinations such as the Maldives, Phuket or Bali. This combination is particularly attractive to honeymooners and young professionals seeking a quality holiday within a reasonable budget.

In the south of the island, travellers can choose from a range of internationally branded properties, including JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, New World Phu Quoc Resort, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and La Festa Phu Quoc – Curio Collection by Hilton. Beyond its resorts, Outlook Traveller also features the three-wire cable car to Hon Thom, Kiss Bridge in Sunset Town, and evening performances and fireworks among Phu Quoc’s standout experiences. Scheduled to launch in November, the third season of Symphony of the Sea in Sunset Town will add another entertainment highlight to the year-end travel season. The new season will triple the amount of fireworks and expand the water stage from 70 to 200 metres, alongside jetski and flyboard performances by international athletes. These enhancements promise more experiences to look forward to for visitors arriving on the island in the coming months.
Another advantage is the visa exemption of up to 30 days for foreign passport holders visiting Phu Quoc who meet the applicable entry requirements. For Indian travellers flying directly to the island and staying within Phu Quoc, the policy simplifies trip preparation, making both advance bookings and last-minute getaways more convenient.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways has opened ticket sales for its direct Phu Quoc–Ahmedabad route, making it easier for Indian travellers to explore the island.
As interest from the Indian market grows, travellers are gaining another flight option to Phu Quoc. On 16 October, Sun PhuQuoc Airways opened ticket sales for its direct Phu Quoc - Ahmedabad route, with services scheduled to begin on 2 December 2026 at a frequency of five flights a week. The airline’s first route to India will connect the island with Gujarat’s largest city, a major economic and commercial centre in western India.
To mark the opening of ticket sales, the airline is running its “Hello Ahmedabad” promotion from 16 October to 13 November 2026, offering 20% off base fares on eligible bookings with the code AMDPQC.
In addition, from 16 October to 31 December, travellers holding Sun PhuQuoc Airways tickets to Phu Quoc will receive a complimentary Hon Thom cable car ticket, along with discounts of up to 30% at entertainment complexes and premium services within Sun Group’s ecosystem on the island.
Phu Quoc’s inclusion in Skyscanner’s 2027 travel trends report, together with the new air connection, creates further opportunities to welcome more Indian visitors. As this market shows growing interest in holidays that combine reasonable costs with varied experiences, the island is gaining further appeal as a choice for the year-end travel season and 2027.
