Phu Quoc International Airport recorded 86 arrivals, including 50 international flights – the highest number in a single day since the airport officially began operations in 2012. The total passenger volume for the day reached 30,651, marking a special operational milestone in the peak period leading up to the Lunar New Year.
Of the total 86 arrivals, there were 36 domestic and 50 international flights. International passengers alone reached 18,271 (9,582 arrivals and 8,689 departures), accounting for nearly 60% of the day's total passenger volume. Domestic passengers reached 12,380, indicating consistent activity in both segments.

Phu Quoc welcomes a large number of international tourists on Valentine's Day 14/02
The figure of 50 international flights in one day clearly reflects Phu Quoc's strong growth momentum on the regional aviation map. This record occurs as Phu Quoc enters its peak Tet holiday tourism season.
According to the operational plan for the Lunar New Year 2026, flight and passenger volume through Phu Quoc International Airport is forecast to increase significantly compared to the same period last year. The total number of flights serving Lunar New Year 2026 is expected to increase by about 50% compared to Tet 2025, with an average of about 75 flights per day, and up to 80–84 flights per day on peak days. The expected passenger volume is over 720 thousand passengers, with both domestic and international traffic increasing sharply.
This is a positive signal for local tourism and economic activities, while also setting very high requirements for the organization and operational management at the Airport.
To effectively serve the peak Lunar New Year 2026, the Airport has developed an operational plan that is proactive, synchronized, and flexible. Specifically, the Airport is deploying additional personnel, vehicles, and equipment; while also comprehensively reviewing infrastructure and operational processes to timely adjust and optimize operations under conditions of high volume.
In addition, close coordination with relevant agencies, units, and airlines will be maintained to review and reorganize service processes in areas prone to congestion, such as check-in counters, security screening areas, and baggage carousels. Based on this, additional personnel will be deployed during peak hours, with flexible management and timely handling of localized congestion situations to ensure passengers are served conveniently, safely, and smoothly.

Phu Quoc International Airport expansion plan is being accelerated ahead of APEC 2027
Alongside this, Phu Quoc International Airport is implementing items to improve service quality and operational capacity such as adding Wifi systems, upgrading signal booster systems, adding flight information display screens, check-in counters, connecting baggage conveyors; while also applying automatic non-stop toll collection from January 1, 2026, to reduce congestion and improve service efficiency.
From early 2026, Sun Group Corporation has officially taken over operations and invested in upgrading and expanding the airport to increase service capacity to 20 million passengers per year before APEC 2027. The project is oriented to become a leading modern international airport in the world.
