1. Overview of the Fansipan Cable Car Station System
Conquering the "roof of Indochina" – Fansipan peak at 3,147m – is now easier than ever thanks to the modern Fansipan cable car system in the Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area. The cable car journey takes visitors through misty valleys, pristine forests, and majestic mountain ranges, with 6 unique stops stretching from the departure station in the center of Sapa town to near the mountaintop.
A highlight of this system is the Fansipan three-rope cable car – once recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest (6,292.5m) and highest (altitude difference between departure and arrival stations is 1,410m) three-rope cable car at the time of its opening in 2016. Thanks to this project, a journey that once took 2–3 days of mountain climbing now only takes about 15 minutes of safe and comfortable travel, suitable for the elderly, children, and those who lack the physical strength for trekking.
At each stop, visitors can enjoy the scenery of the Northwest mountains and forests, explore unique spiritual architecture, or savor local cuisine amidst the clouds.
1.1 Sapa Station – The starting point of a wonderful journey
The adventure to the top of Fansipan begins at Sapa Station, located on the 1st floor of Sun Plaza, a central location in Sapa town, very convenient to access without having to travel far. Here, you can buy tickets for the Muong Hoa mountain train for about 100,000 VND/person one way to travel to the next station – Muong Hoa Station. The nearly 2 km journey takes about 6 minutes on the train, enough time for you to transition from the urban space to the majestic mountain world.
After arriving at Muong Hoa Station, the journey continues by cable car, as if "flying" through the primeval forest, to near the top of Fansipan in about 15 minutes. To avoid waiting time, you should book tickets online in advance through the official website of Sun World – it's quick and convenient, and avoids long queues.

1.2 Muong Hoa Station – A rose paradise amidst the mountains and forests
Muong Hoa Station is located about 2 km from the Fansipan Cable Car Station, nestled in the enchanting Muong Hoa Valley. With its classic French architectural style, it feels like you've stumbled into a “European painting” in the heart of Vietnam's mountains.
This is not just a transfer point for the cable car or mountain train, but also an ideal check-in location. Next to the station is Vietnam's largest rose valley, and many other flowers are grown near the station, attracting visitors to take photos and souvenirs.
A major plus is that visitors don't need to pay extra to enter the station. The mountain train ticket from Sapa Station includes everything ($0 additional fee at Muong Hoa Station). Therefore, this is the perfect choice to relax, take photos and continue your journey to explore Fansipan.

1.3 Hoang Lien Station - Gateway to the Fansipan Cable Car
Upon arriving at the Fansipan Cable Car Station Hoang Lien, you will immediately be captivated by the beautiful scenery with a multi-colored flower garden and the fresh air characteristic of the Northwest mountains. This is the important gateway to continue the journey to conquer Fansipan peak using the modern cable car system of Sun World Fansipan Legend.
A highlight at Hoang Lien Station is the Van Sam Restaurant, where you can relax and enjoy delicious ethnic cuisine before your journey. With a rich menu focusing on traditional dishes of the Hmong, Dao and other ethnic minorities, the restaurant offers a culinary experience full of the flavors of the mountains and the unique identity of the highlands.
1.4 Fansipan Station - A relaxing stop before the majestic mountain peak
Upon arriving at the Fansipan Cable Car Station, you are only about 600 steps away from Fansipan peak. This is the last resting stop, where visitors can calm down, prepare their physical and mental strength before conquering the final steps.
Here, tourists have two flexible options after getting off the cable car: climb 600 steps (taking about 20-30 minutes depending on physical fitness) or continue with the Do Quyen funicular for only about 100,000-150,000 VND/person/trip. Many people choose to walk to experience the emotional conquest of the summit, while those who want to save energy (such as children, the elderly) can prioritize the mountain train.
1.5 Do Quyen Station - Starting point for conquering the summit
Fansipan Cable Car Station Do Quyen, inspired by the rhododendron flower characteristic of the Hoang Lien Son range, is the starting point of the Do Quyen Funicular mountain train to Fansipan peak. The station's location is close to the Ha Temple area - a spiritual site - creating a sacred atmosphere, allowing visitors to stop and soothe their spirits before continuing their journey.
The train experience from Do Quyen station offers a new perspective, allowing you to admire the Northwest mountain forest nature at a lower level, closer than the cable car. On the journey, the undulating mountains, valleys, and "rhododendron paths" along the way all create a fun and adventurous feeling.

1.6 Tram Toc May Station - Almost touching Fansipan peak
Tram Toc May station is the last station on the mountain train journey before you officially reach Fansipan peak. From here, you only have a few dozen steps (about 50 steps) to reach the highest point in Indochina, where there is a stainless steel top marking Fansipan peak and a flagpole at the highest altitude in the country.
When getting off at Tram Toc May station, you will clearly feel the change in altitude and thin air, characteristic of high mountain areas. With the name "Tram Toc May", this Fansipan cable car station seems to be hidden in the white sea of clouds, creating a magical, romantic space like being lost in a fairyland.
Tram Toc May station is not only the last stop before reaching the summit but also an ideal place to rest, take photos with the clouds and magnificent scenery, helping you regain your strength and prepare for the final step to touch the "roof of Indochina".
