For a fulfilling journey when visiting Bich Van Thien Tu, visitors should plan carefully regarding time and attire, and adhere to traditional rituals in this sacred area.
5.1 Ideal Time to Visit
Bich Van Thien Tu is beautiful year-round, but the dry season from October to April of the following year is considered the most ideal time to visit. At this time, the weather is pleasant, with little rain and expansive views, perfect for admiring the beauty of Fansipan peak and the magnificent scenery of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
Some timeframes you should consider:
-
October – November: Pleasant weather, light sunshine, and cool air, suitable for cloud hunting in the early morning.
-
December – January: Temperatures can drop below 5°C, with frost or ice often appearing, creating a unique landscape but requiring adequate warm clothing.
-
February – April: Stable weather, clean air, suitable for prayer, photography, and fully enjoying the sacred atmosphere.
The daytime temperature at the mountaintop ranges from 10–15°C, while it can be much colder at night. The time from 8:00 to 10:00 am or 3:00 to 5:00 pm is the time with the best lighting for photography and to fully appreciate the serenity and mystique of the place known as the "roof of Indochina."
5.2 Notes when visiting the spiritual area
Bich Van Thien Tu is the most sacred space on the top of Fansipan, so visitors need to maintain a respectful attitude and behave appropriately throughout the visit. First, regarding clothing, you should choose long, modest, and polite clothes.
Inappropriate clothing such as tank tops, short skirts, or shorts should be avoided, especially when entering the main hall. Because the temperature at the top of the mountain is always lower than the Sa Pa town area by about 5-10°C, a thick jacket is a necessary item, even when traveling during the sunny season.
When performing the incense offering ceremony, make sure your hands are clean. You should only light three incense sticks according to the traditional ceremony, then bow three times before offering incense to the altar. This not only shows respect for the Buddha but also helps maintain the inherent quiet space of the temple.
While performing the ceremony or visiting the inner hall area, you should limit conversations, keep silent as much as possible, and turn off your phone's ringer to avoid affecting the concentration and peace of those around you. If you need to take photos, you can completely keep the moment, but avoid using flash, especially in the main worship areas to ensure solemnity and respect.

That compassionate gaze towards the South, in the tranquil space and light mountain fragrance, makes anyone who stops here feel their hearts calm down, deepen, and be sheltered.
The particularly sacred point is the Buddha's Ngọc Xá Lợi – a precious treasure given by Myanmar's high monks to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, and solemnly offered by the pagoda into the Great Amitabha Buddha statue on Fansipan peak, with the wish for national peace and prosperity – favorable weather.
The Buddha's relics are preserved in a small bronze tower, placed inside a 7-story crystal glass tower within the statue, sparkling with miraculous light in the solemn space, like a spiritual lotus blooming in the heavens.
Surrounding the Great statue is a serene area, dotted with native wildflowers, where the colors and fragrances of the mountains and forests blend with the sacred energy of heaven and earth.
