On the evening of April 23, 2025, at the Kiss of the Sea show stage, audiences witnessed the awarding of the “Largest permanent water projection theater” title by Guinness World Records to Phu Quoc’s renowned show stage.

This is the first time Vietnam has had an outdoor theater that achieved a Guinness World Record, and it is the second record for Phu Quoc, after the world's longest three-cable cable car for Hon Thom cable car.

Ceremony to receive the title “Largest permanent water projection theater”.

Guinness record is established based on two outstanding criteria.

First, the theater's capacity is up to 5,108 seats – a number far exceeding outdoor performance venues worldwide in the same category of theaters with water screens. This stage is two to three times larger than other outdoor multimedia performances such as Wings of Time (Sentosa, Singapore, 2,500 seats) or Legend of Pangu (Lanzhou, China, 1,500 seats).

Second, the infinite screen at the stage is confirmed as a large-scale, fixed water screen that regularly serves a single show. Specifically, the Kiss of the Sea stage has a water screen 23m high and 44m wide, creating a projection area of up to 920m².

This Guinness record marks an important milestone following the success of The Kiss of the Sea, the first multimedia performance in Phu Quoc. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Director of Sun World Hon Thom, the show's operator, said: “Being recognized by the Guinness World Records organization is an important milestone not only for Sun Group but also a source of pride for Phu Quoc and Vietnam tourism. We believe that the award will continue to make The Kiss of the Sea a symbol of entertainment and a venue for international events, contributing to making Phu Quoc a leading entertainment and art center in the region.”

The Kiss of the Sea offers a spectacular performance combining technology and performance.

The Kiss of the Sea - Kiss of the sea is a product of Sun Group Corporation in collaboration with ECA2 – a leading global creative company from France, the company behind legendary events such as the opening ceremony of the 1998 World Cup in Paris, the millennium celebration at the Eiffel Tower in 2000, and more than 60 multimedia shows in 17 countries.

With a total investment of VND 1,600 billion, The Kiss of the Sea is not only impressive in terms of stage scale but is also designed to achieve records. On the occasion of the show's launch in Phu Quoc, Jean-Christophe Canizares, CEO of ECA2, shared: “This is the largest sea show in Asia or even in the world produced by ECA2. The enormous scale of the project is reflected in a series of work items from architecture, engineering design, creative design, to all production processes…”.

Emmanuelle Charotte, Deputy Business Development Director of ECA2, shared that the show in Phu Quoc applies many special and pioneering technologies. Notably, it is the first stage in the world to own three consecutive projection domes, creating an impressive image depth and an unprecedented immersive feeling for viewers.

With ECA2's masterful staging, The Kiss of the Sea offers a breathtaking artistic journey, where stories of love, the sea, and people are told through the language of light, water, fire, fireworks, music, and artist performances, combined with cutting-edge projection technology. The nightly artistic fireworks display has especially made Phu Quoc known as the “Island of 365 Days of Fireworks”.

The 365-day fireworks display in the show leaves visitors awestruck.

Once again, with this new record, Phu Quoc affirms its position as a leading tourist destination in the region and the world. This also continues to demonstrate the scale and correct direction of Sun Group, as it partners with the locality, contributing to elevating the brand of Phu Quoc tourism to the regional and global stage with iconic projects.
